Architecture & Stained Glass Windows

The information in this windows booklet was collected from the following sources: Our Home of Worship, written by Rolland W. Schloerb and published by the church in 1966; Windows to History, written by Noel M. Gordon and published by the church in 1984; and notes from lectures on the windows given on several occasions by art historian Rolf Achilles.

The church is grateful to Rolf Achilles for the generous gift of his expertise, and to Neal Vogel of Inspired Partnerships, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to the responsible preservation of sacred spaces for the purpose of on-going community-based ministry.

There is no more fitting dedication to this booklet on our windows than the dedication of our own Rose Window:

"to all in this fellowship whose work and devotion
make the Christian ideal a living reality.
It is a symbol of gratitude for the past,
courage in the present, and hope for the future."

Donations to the care and restoration
of the windows may be made to:
The Hyde Park Union Church Windows Fund

The windows booklet was prepared for the 125th anniversary of Hyde Park Union Church by: Margaret O'Dell and Reverend Susan Johnson, with assistance from Richard Barnard, Rachel Hemphill, and Reverend Richard Landers.
