Rev. Wesley Sun began his Lilly residency at Hyde Park Union Church in July 2008, and in July 2010 seamlessly transitioned into his current position as Director of the Gilead Ministry at Jackson Park Hospital. On February 27, 2011 he was ordained in the American Baptist Churches, USA. He was born in Florida, where he stayed throughout his college career, earning his B.A. from Stetson University in Religious Studies and Philosophy. After graduation, he attended the Divinity School at the University of Chicago, finishing with his MDiv. While at the Div School, Wesley served as a minister to The First Baptist Church of Chicago and received his ministerial licensed from the congregation in October of 2007. Earlier that same year, Wesley completed his first unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) here in Chicago, working as a chaplain for Breakthrough Urban Ministries. During his CPE Work, he served homeless populations on both the West side and North side of the city, while working alongside caseworkers, administrators, other clergy, and licensed professional counselors. Wesley now continues his chaplaincy work at Jackson Park Hospital, as the Director of the newly formed Gilead Ministry.
