Every Sunday we have refreshments (“Coffee Hour”) in the Social Hall following Worship. During this time, we engage in a number of fellowship, service, and educational activities – including community luncheons, making layettes for newborns at Jackson Park Hospital, Animal Poetry to support Heifer International, and Second Hour adult education. Once a month, we make chili for 200 to be served the following day at the Open Kitchen sponsored by the local interfaith council. Periodically throughout the year, the Missions Committee brings social concerns to the congregation for discussion and possible advocacy (letter-writing).
During the school year, adult education classes led by the pastoral staff and invited guests provide an opportunity for study and discussion. Topics range from spiritual formation in everyday life to theological perspectives on current events and social issues to faith in literature and culture.
Everyone is Welcome
We encourage visitors to join us for refreshments following worship. You are welcome to stay as long as you like – to participate in our Second Hour and to leave at any time. If you are new, please fill out the Visitor’s Card, so we can get to know you and keep you informed of future events.
