Children are an integral part of our church life. Our inter-generational diversity is one of our greatest strengths as a congregation. Young and old, we worship, fellowship, and serve together.
Worshiping Together We begin worship together every Sunday. During the school year, the Children’s Choir leads the congregation into worship. The children “pass the peace” with the congregation, and adults and children alike look forward to the Children’s Sermon every Sunday. Leadership Opportunities Throughout the year, children and youth are given opportunities to read scripture, to serve as ushers and greeters, and to contribute special music to Sunday Worship. Children and youth also play an integral role in special services and projects: the Thanksgiving Offering for Saint Martin de Porres shelter; the Christmas Pageant; Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday; Palm Sunday and Easter; and Animal Poetry in late Spring for Heifer International. Family Worship Sundays Children participate in the worship for the entire service on Family Worship Sundays. On these Sundays we seek to engage children throughout the service without compromising the depth and quality of our worship and preaching. |
