There are special events and fellowship opportunities throughout the year for families with children. These include:
Fall Activities The school year begins in September with a Church Picnic that includes activities for children. In late October, the older children and youth host Cartoon Theater for the younger children. And for Thanksgiving Sunday, the children collect food and an offering for Saint Martin de Porres House of Hope, a shelter for women and children in Woodlawn. Advent & Christmas During Advent, families light the Advent Candles, and the children perform a Christmas Pageant during worship. Lent & Easter There are activities and lessons for families and children that encourage age-appropriate reflection on the significance of the Lenten Season. The children lead the congregation into worship with a triumphal entry on Palm Sunday and present a Passion Play or Easter Pageant for the congregation. Animal Poetry In May, the children learn and create animal poems that they recite during Second Hour for the congregation to raise awareness and money for the important work of Heifer International. There are lots of opportunities to fellowship throughout the year with other families. Additional activities include ice skating, baking together, and potlucks! |
