We've sent our gorgeous rose window off for repairs!
The wood frame was rotting and the rose window isn’t just for show; it’s load-bearing! It will be back in a few weeks but until then there’s a literal big hole in the side of our building.
While the absence of the rose window is pretty attention-grabbing, it’s not the only change afoot at Hyde Park Union Church. Over the past few months, our congregation has been asking some tough questions:
How do you care for a beautiful, historic building?
How can churches built in a different time be generous with their space?
How can we build a sense of place and community on our corner?
Whether you’re a neighbor or just passing through, if you’re reading this, chances are you have some sort of stake in what becomes of this space. We want to hear from you!
